Look for a coach who’s run a small business. Before I started coaching I built two successful small businesses. I’ve really “been there and done that” so I know what my clients are going through.

I also use coaches myself. The ones that work best for me have small business experience. Small businesses are different from big businesses and you need a coach who understands the special challenges.

Look for a coach who’s been doing it for a while. My job as a coach is to help you know what to do, but it’s also to help you do what you know. It takes time to learn to coach well.

Look for a coach who won’t nickel and dime you to death. It seems to me that there are two kinds of coaches when it comes to billing. There are coaches who charge you by the minute, hour or session. And there are coaches who are always accessible or available for short conversations between sessions, if needed without piling on extra charges. I find the latter works better for my clients.

Look for a coach that you’re comfortable with. Successful outcomes demand a productive relationship between you and your coach. It won’t work if you feel talked down to or belittled or if you feel like your coach doesn’t care about you. If you feel any of those things, look for a different coach.

Look for a coach who’s picky. The best coaches are selective about the kind of clients they work with. We expect a lot of our clients and we limit the number of clients we work with so we can concentrate on helping each one succeed.

It can be eye opening when you come to realize that many successful people purposely set goals for themselves for the future. The act of setting goals or targets to quit smoking should be the focus of every cigarette smoker.

An example of what I am talking about occurs in a book in which it describes a survey taken with a group of students in their last year of high school. The survey was conducted using one hundred people in which they were asked a series of questions. the developers of the survey were avidly interested in learning where the students wanted to be in five years time, and what they saw themselves doing.

Since high school students can be rather immature, in the end there were only five answers which were considered to be a true goal for the future. These same one hundred people were contacted again after five years had gone by and they finished another survey. This time the results were simply amazing since the five students who had set goals for the future had a vastly greater monetary net worth than the other ninety five students added together!

This new survey proved beyond doubt that those of us who set goals or targets for the future are more likely to experience successful lives than those who do not set goals.

So, what does all of this goal setting have to do with smoking cessation? Quite a bit actually. Many people will smoke a pack or two every day. They smoking even though they know it is unhealthy for them, and it will be costly to continue. If these same people would take time to set a goal to stop smoking and follow it they could experience a life void of cigarettes.

Here’s how to set your goals. Begin gradually by setting a small goal that you can live with. You may want to reduce smoking by one quarter of a pack each day. After one week reduce it to one half pack per day. the next week reduce it to three quarters a pack per day. After one month you should be free of smoking for good. Now, that is a goal to work towards!

Let’s be realistic. In actuality it may take longer than a month to stop smoking. That’s fine! Continue to adhere to your goal and visualize all the benefits of quitting. Persistence will pay off as you fulfill your goal to stop smoking cigarettes.

Dealing With Key Meditate & Meditation Retreats

During the ancient times until now, people practice meditation because of its provided advantages. Incorporating meditation as part of your daily life can make a big difference regarding your attitude and outlook in life. But because meditation techniques is a procedure, it involves several steps as well as postures when doing it.

1. Cross legged posture. Various spiritual traditions and meditation cds teachers suggest or prescribe various meditation physical postures. The meditator sits up keeping his or her back straight holding the spine and head in alignment without leaning and thighs parallel to the floor. The hands are rested comfortably on the arm’s chair or on the knees.

3. Kneeling posture. The meditator kneels with both knees on the floor keeping his or her buttocks resting on his or her toes and heels which are almost touching. The hands rest on his or his thighs.

4. Lying down posture also known as corpse posture or savasna in yoga. The meditator rests on the carpet keeping his or her legs straight and relaxed. Nevertheless, this is not used more often since it mimics the natural posture of sleeping. The meditator can sometimes fall asleep. This is effective in reducing stress rather than a meditation process.

5. Incorporating mudras or hand gestures. There is a theological meaning behind these gestures. Based on Yogic philosophy, these can affect consciousness. One example is the common hand-position of the Buddhist. The right hand rests on the top of the left hand with touching thumbs similar to the begging bowl of Buddha.

6. Incorporating various repetitive activities in stillness such as humming, chanting, or deep breathing to help in inducing a state of meditation. The Soto Zen practitioners do their relaxation meditation in front of a wall with open eyes. However, most mediation schools are assuming that the eyes are half-open or closed.

The duration and frequency of meditation books also vary. There are nuns and monks who bow for a lifetime meditation. However, the broadly accepted duration is 20 or 30 minutes. This length may increase as the process goes on as what experienced meditators revealed. To obtain the benefits of meditation music, it is advisable to follow the advices and instructions of the spiritual teacher. Most traditions require daily practice. But some may experience frustration or guilt when they failed to do it. Sometimes, meditators may complain about meditators knee especially during long hours of kneeling on one’s knees or sitting on cross legs. Keep in mind that perseverance and acceptance are needed to become successful. This can help you during prolonged hours of meditation and increase focus on your everyday lives.

Visualization is a power tool in your arsenal. Practicing visualization is a key to success because it helps you mentally rehearse your goals as if they have already happened. When you do this, you start attracting the people, circumstances and events that you need to make those dreams a reality.

The power of visualization comes from repeatedly seeing yourself in that new car or living in your dream home or making the money you want. Visualization can be done in several different ways. Many people find that just thinking about their goals is enough. They picture themselves earning what they want to earn, going on great vacations and spending time with their family. For others, it’s difficult to visualize without some outside help.

Creating a visualization board is a great way to jump-start the visualization process. Take a few days to create your own “motivational poster.” Go through magazines and newspapers and cut out pictures of the things that you’d like to have and the life that you’d like to lead. Find images that correspond to your dream life. If you have goals that can’t be expressed in pictures (like “having more gratitude”) then find words to put on your board.

Once you’re done with your visualization board, post it up someplace where you’ll see it everyday. Look at it often and picture what it will be like when you have everything on that board. You can also practice visualization right before you go to sleep. As you close your eyes, picture yourself in your new home or depositing large checks into your bank account or going on amazing vacations. As you drift off to sleep, your subconscious mind will take those images and absorb them. Your subconscious mind will work on a daily basis to make those visions a reality.

There are some things to keep in mind while visualizing that makes the process more effective. First, try to make the images in your mind as realistic as possible. Instead of envisioning a new house, see yourself walking around in the house and doing normal everyday things. Secondly, repeat your visualization practice as much as possible. The more you think about your dreams becoming reality, the more you’ll program yourself for success. Finally, the thoughts you have while you are visualizing are just as important as the images themselves. Thinking thoughts such as “this is impossible” or “this will never happen” while visualizing will defeat the purpose. While you are visualizing, think to yourself “this is all mine. This is within my reach.” These positive thoughts will help you start living the life you deserve to live.
