Baby Intellect Growth Phases.
Health and Fitness July 9th, 2009
A baby in the womb gets started growing its mind from the division of stem cells. Special stem cells are powerful, since they provide the ability to become any type of cell that we are in need of in the body, such as blood cells, heart cells or brain cells. Most mind neurons that are growing in the fetal period will stay with us throughout our life, unlike any different type of cell in the body.
A baby in the womb of a few weeks or a month is growing half a million mind neurons every 60 seconds! These growing mind neurons take their appropriate place in the mind by taking a hold of supporting cell types referred to as glia cells. From 16 weeks and later the neurons will work on forming connections to different neurons. They do this at a rate of two million connections every second. This linking of the neurons adheres to a genetic blueprint, passed down from both the father and the mother, and their ancestors.
At approximately the third trimester of fetal development the cleaning up begins. In this phase the mind will start trimming away certain connections, while enhancing different ones. This function seems to be to enable that only the strongest continue to function, since the neurons that are in the first connection will remain while the others that were directed to form the same connection, but didn’t get the job done, will disappear. As with evolutionary development, only the strong survive.
At the end of pregnancy a baby’s mind weighs less than one pound, roughly one third of the weight of the mature mind. Looking at a part of the mind no bigger than a rice grain, it consists of roughly 10,000 neurons. After the kid is born the 5 senses will start growing, of which vision will be the latest.
Of the whole growth of the mind, eighty percent will occur following the end of pregnancy. Also, the cutting away of connections, will now occur due to signals from the outside world as opposed to just a genetic blueprint. Medical groups have demonstrated that when a kid receives immediate information connected to a movement to do something new, such as letting out a verbal sound, it will process quicker than when no feedback is given.
Following when the kid is delivered it will use roughly seventy percent 70% of the nutrients it eats for the growth of the mind. This explains why babies are typically sleeping in these beginning phases, since all of the energy they eat is put to use for the growth of the mind and entire body.
