If you’re a type of person who is just interested in the mystical and wants to explore astrology, then you probably would want to explore tarot reading also. A lot of people have been quite hooked to the idea of reading into one’s inner self and trying to interpret that into something they can use. It can get really interesting to say the least. And for those who don’t know, tarot reading has been around for centuries and has been tested by time as a valid medium of insight. That is why, personal tarot reading can really be an extremely appealing activity. I myself have done it multiple times and the more I do it, the more comfortable and competent I become at it. Take a look at a few of the basics here in order for you to start reading your very own tarot.:

Get a few tarot readings. I encourage you to try and get a tarot reading first before doing any of following steps so you would get a general idea of the flow and how the activity flows as a whole Just getting a general overview of how the whole things works and the vibes that go around with it would definitely get you on the right track faster than any first activity would. Whether you have tried one before or not, there are always tarot sites online that would give you ideas about astrology free of charge.

Buy your own Tarot deck. It will be quite difficult to proceed to read tarot without a tarot deck. That is the next step after you have gotten around to experiencing it from readings by actual readers The rest of it will really just follow. This first step, however, might be considered by some to be the most important yet. This is simply because the more comfortable and relaxed you are about doing this, the better you get. You have to not feel weird about it. And you might say a significant portion of this comfort lies in the vibes and connection you get with your own chosen tarot deck. In choosing the right deck, you have to rely on your guts and feelings. Although, they mostly differ only on design and illustration, the single most popular deck of tarot cards in use today is the Rider-Waite deck which even has its own variations. There are some decks that utilize artwork of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance in their design and interpretation. There are even some with designs that look so mesmerizing they’re almost hypnotic, or plain eerie depending on your perspective.

Know the basics in the card’s meaning. After getting your own deck, the next thing you’d want to do is to begin understanding what they mean. Now there are several layers of meaning that you can get from a spread of cards at one time. Understanding the real meaning it is trying to portray is the real trick. Again, this is not hardcore, at least at first, because the cards themselves show clues as to what they mean respectively. You can pretty much get familiarized by their meaning by just looking at their picture. But be careful because this doesn’t mean that you’d automatically understand what they actually mean. Most of the cards are not as simple to interpret as simply looking at the pictures. This requires experience. Initially, getting information on all 78 cards on the deck might be intimidating but you’ll soon realize that there are pattens to them and it then becomes a breeze. You can also just understand their basic meaning and do it for a few cards at a time. That way, you don’t confuse one with another in the long run. In lieu of taking things slowly at this stage of your training, it would also be a good time to practice your meditation as well. This can go well with trying to familiarize (and even memorize eventually) yourself with the cards’ meanings. Meditation and generally clearing your mind of outside forces is very important in tarot reading as it will allow you to see and feel the signs quite clearly. The idea is to relax so you’ll be able to read and understand the spread a lot better and more accurately.

Understand the various tarot spreads. After getting a good idea of what the cards basically mean, you’re up to speed for the next step, spreads! To put it simply, a spread is a pattern in which the cards are laid out on the table. Although it is a very basic thing to do, it has an extremely high impact on the how the reading will turn out. On the spread each position would have its own meaning and this usually involves the 3 different time perspectives: the past, the present and the future. Getting the whole meaning of the cards in a particular spread allows the reader to understand the subject and begin to have answers to their questions. The first thing to do, however, before doing the spread is to shuffle the cards. Now, shuffling the cards also has different styles to it but for now, a simple shuffle would suffice. This is very important as well and some even believe that this particular task, where you let the subject touch the deck, is when the subject’s energy gets transferred to the deck. This, in turn, allows the deck to understand the subject as an individual and effectively provide answers for them in particular. After shuffling the tarot deck, you can proceed to pull out the cards individually and begin the spread. The most common spread is called the Celtic Cross. It basically involves the cards positioned in a 6-card cross on the left side and a 4-card vertical line on the right side. The order in which the cards are laid out is found in the image below. The spread which fits you right also depends on the type of issue that you would like to specialize in. For now, you can start with that since it is one of the easiest to understand. However, as you get more experienced, it should come naturally that you’d want to explore this wonderful medium way more.

It’s Card Reading Time. This is crunch time. By this time, you would’ve already learned about the meaning of the cards as well as the spread, their positions and respective meanings of each position. Simply follow these steps and get the ball rolling.

In a nutshell, there you go. That is basic flow of tarot reading, getting you ready for your very own first step in becoming a tarot reader and go on to learn more and more about this wonderful medium in your own time. Learning it is both a personal as well as a communal activity. Again, this is the basic flow of the tarot reading and you should add your very own spins to it so that you’ll be sure to become your own unique reader along the way. The more you do it, the more comfortable you get and better able to read the tarot’s answers. For starting out, check out a few sites to give you a general idea of astrology free of charge.
